Furman students participate in the 2019 fall convocation.
Once our students arrive, they progress along a personalized four-year pathway, which offers them more than 60 areas of study, undergraduate research, study away and internships – learning and training alongside renowned faculty and guided by mentors and advisers.
The richness of our world
Furman welcomed 653 first-year students for the 2019-20 academic year, 26% from South Carolina, 72% from out of state and 2% from outside the United States. They are among the best, with 42% ranking in the top 10% of their high school graduating class, an average SAT score of 1337 and average ACT score of 30. These students make up one of Furman’s most diverse classes in recent history, with 18% domestic nonwhite students and 8% first-generation students.
